Here is the fourth
post on lack of desire for physical intimacy focusing on lack of privacy:
Lack of privacy:
Some women
might feel a lack of desire for physical intimacy because they have children or
parents and siblings that live with them. This
might cause them to feel nervous
or embarrassed.
Personal
Example:
Whitney has four young children. She is
avoiding physical intimacy with her husband because she is afraid that her
children might walk in on them, and see or hear them.
What research has found:
Fear of children
hearing or seeing is a valid concern, however it’s not a reason to limit your physical
intimacy with your husband. Having children can make physical intimacy a little
bit harder, but it can still be done.
What you can do:
You need your time with your husband. It is important to enforce
bedtimes and schedules so that you can get some rest, you can get some
predictability, and you can get some romance! This doesn’t always mean an early
bedtime. Maybe you’re morning people and would rather have an hour in the
morning together before the kids get up. That’s fine, just decide when you want
you’re a lone time and enforce bedtime and nap time around that. Another tip
might be installing a lock on your door, you might still get interrupted but at
least you can control access. You can teach your children or other family
members to knock and ask for permission before entering.
